History
Rostov State University of Economics was founded in 1931 and was first known as Rostov Financial-Economic Institute, then renamed into Rostov Institute of National Economy in 1964 and only in 2000 got its today name. In 2011 University is celebrating its 80 years old anniversary.
Today RSUE is one of the leading economic universities in South of Russia with more than 22 000 students, representing 35 countries.
Accreditation and Licensing
2004 – Certification audit in accordance with ISO 9001:2000
2004 – Prize-winner of Russian Ministry of Education and Science Contest “Internal system of quality assurance of Specialist programs in Higher educational institutions”
2005 – RSUE is put in the list of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia
2007-2008 – 6 RSUE members won in “Russian Leader of Quality” Contest, organized by All-Russian Organization of Quality.
2008 - Prize-winner of Governor of Rostov region Contest “Don Quality”
2009 – Prize-winner of “1000 best enterprises and organizations in service industry of Russia” Contest in section “Best educational institutions”

Russian System of Higher Education
University course duration in Engineering, Economics and Humanities:
Bachelor’s degree – 4 years
Specialist – 5 years
Master’s degree (after Bachelor’s) – 2 years
Postgraduate course – 3 years
One academic year lasts for 10 months (September 1st – June 30th).
The academic year is arranged in two semesters: autumn semester: September 1st – January 25th; spring semester: February 9th – June 30th. At the end of each semester, in January and in June, students take their term exams in the subjects they have studied, in accordance with the curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
